Chapter 106 Spies
Jake and Myriad Arrows stopped in front of the portal of Diffast, ready to move to the Ancient Kingdom of Croatia.
Jake paid the fees to enter and stopped for a moment.
"Remember, what you are going to see once I take you to this place will be absolutely mind blowing, so I don\'t want you to lose it." Jake said.
"Think of it as a treat. Now then, let us get going." Jake said as he took the first step forward, entering the giant portal.
Behind him, Myriad Arrows took a deep breath as he also entered the portal. And then there was silence. The city was crowded, but the people at the portal came into the city, and weren\'t leaving it.
But there was one person closely watching the duo who just left the city and the kingdom.
"Yes Boss. Both of them left. That\'s right. It looks like they seem fine together." A sweet voice said into a walkie talkie of sorts.
"Good. Did you happen to see where they went?" A hoarse voice came from the other side.
"No boss, that Shadow King covered his selection such that no one could see what he was putting in." The woman trailing Jake and Myriad Arrows said,
"That is unfortunate. Why don\'t you leave for now? You can tail him later." The voice on the monitor said.
"Yes, Boss." The woman nodded, and she put the device down, turning around leave the area.
"Don\'t you think that you have some explaining to do? I wanted to have a nice discussion with the one who was trailing me for quite some time now." A crisp, loud voice stopped her in her tracks.
"To think that the chairman would use someone from the Praetorian guard for this meaningless task?" Jake shook his head as he walked toward the woman from the side.
"Ho- how? I saw you walking through the portal!" She stuttered.
"Well, It\'s easy enough to come back as well. And there are two sides to the portal. One for entering, one for leaving." Jake chuckled as he closed in.
"Hundred Flower Rain. I think you are a part of my guild, actually?" Jake paused for a moment as he looked at his guild list.
Indeed, this woman was a part of his guild, but he was absolutely sure that he saw her in the training of the Praetorian Guard.
"To think that he would let someone like you bind yourself by contract to my guild. Truly interesting choice." Jake commented.
"Where is the young master?" Hundred Flower Rain looked around, trying to find Myriad Arrows, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Don\'t worry. That\'s a relief though. I was worried that he would be in on it, but clearly, he doesn\'t know that you were here, spying on me. Or else, I would be quite disappointed in him." Jake smiled.
"Now then, can you please connect your walkie with your boss please?" Jake asked, snapping his fingers.
"And why should I do that? Do you think that I work for you?" She snarled at him.
"Yeah, that is fair enough." Jake nodded. "But now that you think about it, you actually do work for me. In fact, you are among the actual members of the guild, not the temps. That means that you have signed a proper contract with us. Did you happen to read its contents thoroughly?" Jake asked.
"Of course I have. Do you think that I am stupid, signing something that I haven\'t even read?" She asked.
"Good. Now that you have those snarky comments ready, then why don\'t you answer this. Article seven, if I am not wrong. If you are a spy from another guild, you will have to pay a penalty of a thousand gold coins. Quite a wonderful clause actually raises no eyebrows because those who ARE spies never think that they will get caught." Jake smiled.
"Do you have any proof that I am a spy? You just caught me here standing where you were." Hundred Flower Rain said.
"That is also true. But then again, Horace is a new ally, so it was never my intention of milking them for a measly thousand gold coins. What I do want to do, though, is milk them for all the spies that they can give me." Jake smiled as he looked up.
"Right. So do you know a wonderful feature of World Online? It emulates the real world so well that power here is truly absolute. It means that there is a way for me to take you captive in the truest sense." Jake said as he clapped his hands.
p
"Hundred Flower Rain. You are now being detained in the City Jail for one day because of your offense of stalking and threatening the life of a Baron of Loviel." A voice came from behind her.
"Sigh! If I was a Viscount, that would have been so much higher. I need to work on increasing my noble ranking a little." Jake made a note as he walked back toward the portal.
He did open his chats though.
[Chairman. I have forgiven Myriad Arrows for withholding the truth from me as a favor because you are doing me a favor and mentoring my brother. But that doesn\'t mean that you can still have someone tail me. Please make sure that all of your spies leave my guild.] he typed out.
Immediately after he sent the message though, Jake could see that it was read. And a second later, Nolan was typing something back.
Ping!
[I do not know what your are talking about, Shadow King. But if you are insinuating that Horace sent another spy at you, then you are deeply mistaken.]
"Wait, what?"
