Chapter 105 Confronting Myriad Arrows
"Wow. What was that?" Myriad Arrows asked, chuckling.
"What did he do to you?"
Jake did not answer Myriad Arrows. He silently came up to him, who was standing and to the side of Jake\'s chair now.
"Take a seat." Jake gestured to the opposite chair and sat in his spot.
"What\'s wrong with you today? Why are you so gloomy?" Myriad Arrows asked, confused, as he took the seat that was given to him.
"I just talked with the chairman of Horace. Nice old chap, about to die." He started.
"Don\'t you think that you should give him a little more respect than the-"
"SHUT UP FOR A MOMENT, WILL YA?" Jake shouted.
The floor went completely silent as Myriad Arrows was completely blown away. He didn\'t know what had just happened. This was the first time that he saw Jake like this.
"Now then. I spoke with Nolan Horace, and we had an interesting discussion. We spoke about the future of the Roman Empire, and then he spoke about his grandson, Kyle."
The moment his name was uttered, Myriad Arrows quivered.
"So you found out, huh?" Myriad Arrows sighed.
"I found out? What do you think I am running, a charity? The question shouldn\'t be whether I found out or not. It should be why you didn\'t tell me?!" Jake stood up with anger.
"This is why I didn\'t tell you! Who would want to put me in their guild if they knew that my grandfather was the chairman of Horace? Would you? Would you let me be the first guild member of your guild if you knew?" Myriad Arrows shouted back.
"I would have! I would have! I don\'t care if you are the goddamn son of Nova\'s CEO! But you didn\'t tell me. So how do you expect me to trust you in the future? When I saw you, I trusted you enough to usher you into a goddamn Epic Class. You would think that telling me the truth would be a simple thing." Jake shouted again.
This was turning into quite the shouting match now, and both sides were standing up, heated.
Jake took a deep breath first.
"Fine. Tell me your story, and I will listen to it. I won\'t be unreasonable." Jake said, sitting back down. He had to be the bigger person now.
At this crucial point for the guild, it was better to make some compromises than to leave his second best player just like that without knowing his side of the story.
"Thank you." Myriad Arrows stressed as he sat back down as well.
"I was never spying on you or anything. I was just a part of your guild like a normal person. I just wanted to be a normal person for once. Without a thousand people around me or something. Everyone thinks that being the grandson of the chairman is awesome, but it has so many more problems." Myriad Arrows said with a low tone.
"So when I had a chance to do whatever I wanted to do in this online world where I wouldn\'t die, I went to an empire that was nowhere near where grandfather put up shop. And that was where I met you. I couldn\'t have you run away because you were afraid of Horace. So I shut my mouth. I guess grandfather spilled the beans?" Myriad Arrows asked.
"Yes. Now he tells me that you talk to him a lot about me?" Jake raised his eyebrows.
"Of course I would! Wouldn\'t you tell your brother or father about some legend that you met and helped give you an epic class? Don\'t tell me? Did he tail you with a spy because of that?" Myriad Arrows asked.
Now, World Online was a little different from other VRMMORPGs(well, in this particular case, if we look at other cases, it is way too different), in that it displays emotion from the brain in facial expressions.
And Jake could see the concern and worry on Myriad Arrows\' face. This was not the face of a spy for sure. Jake knew the face of a spy. There was a short stretch where he was forced to be one.
Jake raised his eyebrows.
"He did this before?"
"So he actually sent spies on you?"Myriad Arrows sighed.
"No wonder you are so mad at me. I was shocked at why you were furious to this extent. Looks like he spied on you." Myriad Arrows slumped to his chair.
Jake didn\'t know what to say anymore. His anger in Myriad Arrows was gone now, but now that this confrontation happened, things were going to be odd for a while.
Jake hated that things progressed to this point, but what could he do though? This was beyond his control.
"Damn it. If only we have something to do at this point." Jake thought to himself, and then he realized something. He did.
"Fine. Myriad Arrows. Looks like we have some talking to do before the guild can see a cohesive front at the top. So we have to go take a small break outside the guild. How about I take you somewhere interesting?" Jake asked, smiling.
Myriad Arrows was confused. Looking up innocently, he asked, "Where are we going?"
"It is a surpr- yeah, I guess you won\'t like it when I say it like that, will you? You hate these suspenses." Jake stopped himself at the last moment and smiled bitterly.
"Follow me. We will be going to the Ancient Kingdom of Croatia."
"Croatia? What is that? I have only heard of the country, never the kingdom." Myriad Arrows asked.
"Yeah, that makes about enough sense. Who will possibly know every single kingdom out there? I mean, there are like hundreds of them. It will take time for you to remember every single one of them." Jake chuckled.
"And yet you seem to know every single one of them." Myriad Arrows laughed back as both of them walked through the doors that led out of the third floor.
They entered screaming, and they left laughing.
