Chapter 20 The Ways Of The Mist
The Weisse family.
The Vampire city of Lux still respected the old ways, and among them had been respecting the bloodline of Vampires deemed to have purer blood.
That was why Serena Weisse was looked upon fondly by both the Hunter\'s Association and the Council of Vampires–they were hoping for some inspiration, guidance and direction.
Serena Weisse had none to give.
It was a lonely world for her, and yet now there was something that preoccupied her mind.
A Vampire\'s skills tended to be varied nowadays, only a few of them could dream of holding all of the powers of the former generation.
And yet, Serena Weisse was someone who could–and among those skills was the ability to detect strong individuals…
"Or similarly ranked ones." Serena Weisse closed the grimoire and looked about the empty library with a look of disconcert.
"A great number, if not most of the leaders and family members of the Vampire society had given up their lives during the Great War with little to no survivors–so why am I sensing as if there\'s another one?"
Serena Weisse\' heart pounded.
She had always been alone and different. Treated as unlike the rest and for the first time in years, someone appears in her radar and tells her otherwise.
"What do they want? Do they have anything planned?" Serena Weisse started to pace back and forth through the beautiful tiled room of the grand library.
She crossed her arms over her chest and sighed softly.
"I have to meet them, find them–but I am not certain if we would have similar ideologies, if they had hidden for this long or just arrived… depending on the circumstances, I may have to fight them."
The idea of battling them was not enough to unnerve Serena, but she was not a fool.
"Depending on their abilities and their true form and power, a catastrophe could occur in Lux City and we cannot let that happen."
The only reason why she had let them go the last time was because she thought she would have the ability to find them again but she was wrong.
"My power of detection is too underused for me to discover them again… hah, I never even knew I would be able to use them at this point of time. My only option is to investigate myself and where else is the best place to start if not for where I first detected him?"
Serena Weisse placed her hands together and closed her eyes–she took a deep breath and then let go.
Her physical form and substance changed into mist and she went out of the window, allowing the night breeze to carry her to her destination.

"And that hits the spot doesn\'t it?" Lukas chuckled as he drank the Bloody Mary in one go.
"You drink blood like it\'s nothing." Chaerin pointed out with a small smile as she popped some chips in her mouth.
"Isn\'t that what our kind is supposed to do?"
"Well yes, but the supply is always a little bit–it doesn\'t really matter. You have a smidge here." Chaerin reached out with her thumb and wiped at the corner of Lukas\' lips.
Lukas proceeded to watch her lick her thumb, her gaze never wavering from his. It was enough to make him forget all about earlier.
Chaerin didn\'t want to discuss it and neither did he–instead, it was all about the pull that he felt around her.
Lily had been soft and sweet as promised, but she never really went beyond polite company.
A platonic friendship in a sense despite Lukas\' urges and flirtations that tried to bring it in something else otherwise–but it was a different story with Chaerin.
Chaerin somehow seemed to know what she wanted and it took all of Lukas\' effort to not just tug her up, leaving all of the things here and proceeding to a bathroom or the back alley.
Lukas had a feeling that Chaerin wouldn\'t turn him down either.
"Do you want to go somewhere else after this?" Chaerin asked.
"Huh, oh what do you have in mind?"
"I know a real nice place where we could… hang out. We could rent a room and watch movies there." Chaerin said. "It\'s 100 Credits, and we could split the bill."
Lukas blinked. It was almost as if she read his mind–and she really was being extremely forward.
He gestured for a minute towards the employee\'s room.
"You think your sister\'s gonna have a problem with you staying out too late with a complete stranger?"
"What do you mean by stranger?" Chaerin raised a brow. "You make me feel like as if I\'ve known you for a long time."
Well… wasn\'t that odd?
Lukas chose to dismiss the feeling and nodded his head. "Well then, I guess that\'s settled. Let\'s get out of here."
Why waste the opportunity when she was already making the strides to push things forward for the two of them?
Chaerin probably meant that him being a tenant in their apartment made them not strangers.
The two of them proceeded to stand up, get ready and after Lukas settled the bill–the two of them slipped out of the bar.
As they stepped outside, Lukas sneezed and rubbed his nose. He completely missed the notification that appeared at the corner of his vision.
"The wind\'s kinda funny tonight, huh?" Lukas grinned. "Maybe someone\'s thinking about me."
"And who could it possibly be?" Chaerin fluttered her eyelashes. "A close friend of yours?"
"Not really as important as spending time with you–it\'s pretty insane that I\'m going to hang out with my landlord, but I wouldn\'t have anything else in this world at this moment."
Lukas pulled Chaerin close and smirked.
"That\'s more like it." Chaerin grinned right back.
