Chapter 15.2. Mistake Was Made
It seems I’m the only one who thinks so. The captains are sweating cold sweat, and the butler and the maids are changing positions to protect Yamiyo and me.
When I look at Yamiyo’s face, it is grim. Everyone is intimidated. This is a boy who is a bad actor who would never get chosen for the school play.
Maybe they are intimidated by mana or something. Gogo. I can’t feel his mana at all. I need to visualize it.
At any rate, I read the air and stare at the boy with a serious face, holding my stick. It’s a dumb scene. Are you kidding me? I’m not surprised, am I? (Miu) I’m a good girl, so I’ll go along with everyone.
It’s not a surprise. Intimidated by his power, the boy looks satisfied and opens his mouth.
“My name is Aguni Masatoshi. You’ve heard of me, right? I’m the eldest son of the Duke of Aguni. Who are you?”
The boy squares his chin in a half-polite, aristocratic manner. He’s an irritating boy. Did he say Masatoshi or something?
“This is the eldest daughter of the Teijo family, Teijo Yamiyo-sama’s troop.”
“Ahhh, Teijo Yamiyo, right. Where are you? In the shadows? Are you using them as meat shields? Or are you a baggage handler? Hey, dark-rooted Wakame-chan, where are you~? Kuhahaha.”
Masatoshi scurries around and laughs. But then he looked at Yamiyo and me, and his face turned surprised. What is this guy? Could he be a character from a novel?
I stare at him, and he blushes and turns his face away. Phew. My (Miu)’s cuteness got him, huh? Laughing through my nose, I check Masatoshi’s face against my memory.
A character in a novel. The hero, his male partner, and the heroine. Yeah, I don’t match any of them. I remembered the faces of some of the enemy characters, but the check result was zero. Yes, he is not a character in the novel.
It’s a bad habit to think of every character around the protagonist. That is reality. Many people live here. It must be harder to find a character who is related to the main character than it is to win the third prize in a lotto lottery.
But as if to block his gaze, Yamiyo stood in front of me. She ruffled her pigtails and glared at Masatoshi with cold eyes.
“Member from the Aguni Family. I am Teijo Yamiyo. Please make your acquaintance.”
Yamiyo does the curtesy, pretending to hold the hem as if she had a skirt, though she doesn’t have one, and she looks splendid, not like a 9 year-old. Can I as her best friend give a quick clap?
But for some reason, Masatoshi’s expression changed to surprise at Yamiyo’s admirable greeting. For some reason, he stares at Yamiyo with a look of impatience so piercingly that it makes a hole in his face.
That is it. Now it’s time for me to protect Yamiyo from Masatoshi’s gaze. Yami Yoru, can you not play defense? Yamiyo spreads her hands out to her sides so I can’t go to her front to protect her. Hey, Yamiyo-chan?
In front of the two of us giggling and shoving each other, Masatoshi regain his composure and resumed grinning.
“Oh, so that’s what it is. Damn it. Wasn’t I the only one?” “What do you mean?”
Yamiyo asks, frowning suspiciously at Masatoshi, who looks frustrated. But all Masatoshi could do in response was shake his head.
“You know my name without asking, don’t you?”
“I am sorry. I thought today was the first time I had met you, Aguni-sama.”
I looked at Yamiyo’s face, wondering if they knew each other, but it looked strange like they had never met before. What the hell? That guy knows her one way or another? Well, Yamiyo is a beautiful woman. It’s not surprising some men think on their own that they know her. She’s only 9 years old, but she’s a terrifying girl.
But when Masatoshi’s eyes widen in surprise at Yamiyo’s words, she starts staring at him again. He’s rude, isn’t he? I’ll be the wall, Yamiyo, and you won’t play defense?
“Oh, I see. Oh, there’s a pattern like that? I see.”
I don’t know what’s going on, but when I smiled good-humoredly, Masatoshi regained his composure and grinned at me.
“Well, I’m sorry for both of us. I’ll give you some of those garbage magic stones. See you.”
Suddenly changing his attitude, Masatoshi flipped his cloak and left. I saw the duke’s bodyguard running impatiently from over the hill and joined him. What the hell, that guy?
“He was a strange boy, wasn’t he?”
“He’s a pervert. He was looking at Mii-sama as if he was making fun of you.”
Yamiyo was angry, but he spent more time staring at her than she did.
“Maybe he’s in love with Yamiyo-chan!”
“Eh? What did you say?”
With an innocent smile, I uttered a guess, and she glared at me, and for some reason, I felt pressured, so I chuckled. Maybe there are demons in this world.
It was scarier than fighting monsters.
Anyway, fighting demons, huh? Well, I’ll have to be careful.
I didn’t remember Masatoshi. He was in a minor role, so it was inevitable. And that was the proof that I was a mobster.
