Chapter 153 - 153 Corpse
Lin Jia smiled. As he drove, he asked Yin Tao, “Do you have anything else to do later? Let’s go have a cup of coffee. It’s rare that I can put aside my work today, so I might as well treat it as a holiday.”
“Alright.” Yin Tao didn’t decline. After all, she wanted to ask Lin Jia about Shanshan. Moreover, she hadn’t achieved her main goal for coming out today. The necklace was still in her backpack. Yin Tao didn’t know how to return it.
Lin Jia drove the car to a relatively chill coffee shop. Yin Tao followed Lin Jia and they found a seat by the window.
!!
After ordering two cups of coffee from the waiter, Yin Tao took out Shanshan’s sketchbook from her backpack.
“Is this Shanshan’s sketchbook?” Lin Jia wasn’t surprised when he saw the sketchbook in Yin Tao’s backpack.
“Brother Lin Jia, have you seen Shanshan’s drawings before?”
Lin Jia flipped through a few pages of the sketchbook that Yin Tao handed over before saying, “I’ve seen her previous drawings. What you’re seeing now is a slightly improved version.”
Yin Tao didn’t quite understand Lin Jia’s words. “What do you mean? Could it be that Shanshan’s drawings in the past were even stranger?”
Lin Jia thought for a moment and took out his cell phone from his pocket. After opening the photo album, he handed it to Yin Tao. “Take a look. These are the drawings she did in the past. Some of them even frightened the teachers of the Children’s Home.”
Yin Tao looked at the photos on Lin Jia’s cell phone, and she became more and more puzzled. If the black and white drawings that Yin Tao had seen earlier were considered strange, then the drawings on Lin Jia’s cell phone could be described as terrifying.
The colors were still the same black and white scheme, but there were some glaring dashes of scarlet added. There seemed to be some congealed dark brown marks that looked like dried blood.
There were rats in the drawings, but they were lying on their backs, and their heads were completely painted with red pens. There were also puppies, parrots, and severed fingers, and without exception, they were all covered in blood.
Shanshan’s drawing skills weren’t bad, and Yin Tao could tell what she wanted to draw. However, it was precisely because of this that these drawings were even more terrifying.
It was hard to believe that a six-year-old girl could have drawn the bodies of these small animals, and they were so lifelike.
“This?” A very strange drawing caught Yin Tao’s attention. In the drawing, there were two people lying on the ground. Their faces were covered in fresh blood. One of them was a smaller sized person with longer hair, and he seemed to have been crushed. His hands and feet were placed together in a strange manner.
“It looks scary, right? When Shanshan showed this painting to Sister Sun, Sister Sun was shocked. No one could understand why a six-year-old child would have these images in her mind.”
Lin Jia sighed worriedly and said, “At that time, Shanshan was sent to a psychiatrist. Sister Sun thought that Shanshan was acting strangely because she had just lost her parents and was traumatized.”
“Other than drawing, did Shanshan do anything else strange?” Yin Tao caught the main point of Lin Jia’s words.
“She would often say strange things on and off, like wanting to take a plane, to seal the door, and to cut off her limbs, and so on. Furthermore, she would often hide alone. The teachers at the Children’s Home had to call in the doctors many times because of Shanshan.”
Lin Jia looked at Yin Tao, who was deep in thought, and added, “There was once when the police were alerted. All the staff in the Children’s Home couldn’t find Shanshan, so they called the police. No one expected Shanshan to walk out of hiding on her own after the police came. It was also because of that experience that the teachers in the Children’s Home knew that Shanshan seemed to like the police very much.”
“So, this is Brother Lin Jia’s main purpose for bringing me to see Shanshan?” Yin Tao asked doubtfully, “Brother Feng is the real police. Why didn’t you ask him to go?”
“If Feng Jing had gone, Shanshan might have hidden herself again.” Lin Jia thought of Feng Jing’s stern face and shook his head helplessly. “Only you are more suitable. Besides, don’t you think that Shanshan’s drawings are a little strange?”
Yin Tao took a sip of the coffee served by the waiter and nodded. “It’s indeed unusual. Brother Lin Jia, do you know why Shanshan came to the Children’s Home?”
“I heard from Sister Sun that Shanshan’s parents passed away. They died in a family fire.”
